It was always going to be a risk today with a northerly forecast dropping during the day and cold but when Robert said he was going I decided to take a chance as no wind until next week. Mag had agreed to go to Lidl early and que in hope of buying a Mistral SUP on special offer just £199 perfect board for a young family to get out on the water:) They already have a sup and this will be perfect for his partner! Mag was first in the que before eight this morning and the manager came out to say they only had four and they were on till so she was able go get one. There are now several on Ebay for nearly £500 as people were allowed to buy several at many lidl’s! It was a lovely sunny stat here in Felixstowe and I even managed to do my exercises in the back garden. I put my wetsuit and too the sandwich Mag had made leaving home at 10.30 just as it clouded over with a few rain drops, not enough to do any good, it has been a very dry month! Local James was already there setting up his foil board with the only sail he had with him his 6m. The cross on wind from the left looked light and patchy at best but Rob had just arrived so we decided to give it a go. I rigged 8.5 and Rob 7.5 and you had to wade a fair way out to find deep water as the wind picked up! James was up and flying on 6m heading towards Mistley but it was very gusty, 20 knot gust then nothing and very cold on your hands. We did a few miles slowly going up river but the wind dropped so we wobbled back and called it a day, soon warmed up with the diesel heater on while having my lunch before stopping at Mistley to take pics of the swans. Some big winds hopefully coming next week and would be great to get out on the fin, April has been a good month with 12 sessions, best month of the year so far:)
